Introduction

Makersite provides and maintains more than 40 international regulatory lists.

Restricted Substance Lists (RSL) contain information about regulated substances and their limits / exceed values.

It may be possible that very industry specific or organization specific lists are not currently included in Makersite's system, this tool allows you to easily add any additional lists to Makersite if required.

RSL Example File Download

Overview

For this tutorial, first download the RSL_Example file from the link above.

Open and review the example RSL file to understand it's features and formatting.

Then to initiate an import, either:

  • Choose ‘Additional Makersite Tools’, and then choose ‘Importer’ from the pop-up window.

  • Or alternatively, under ‘Favorite apps’, choose ‘Importer’ from the list shown on the Makersite Dashboard.

You then choose ‘Compliance List Importer’ from the list shown within the ‘Import your Data’ pop-up.

Your RSL excel file can then be, dragged and dropped directly onto the Makersite page or click the ‘Upload File’ button at the top left of the page, to open the upload dialog where you can then choose the RSL file to upload.

Step 1

On opening the RSL file you will see the file has 5 columns, 'EC number', 'CAS number', 'Name', limit values entered as 'Min_proportion' and 'Max_proportion'

The RSL file can be as long as required.

The name the RSL file is saved as will be carried over as the name of the list in Makersite.

Step 2

Click on the 'Importer' icon under 'Favorite apps' on the Makersite Dashboard.

Alternatively, click on 'Additional Makersite tools', under 'Makersite apps' at the top of the Dashboard page, then select 'Importer' from the pop-up.

This will then open the 'Import your data' pop-up.

Step 3

Click on 'Compliance List Importer' in the 'Import your data' pop-up.

This will take you to the upload page.

Step 4

You can now drag and drop your RSL file directly onto the upload window.

Alternatively, click on 'Upload File' in the top left corner of the page and select the RSL file from the location where it is saved.

Once the file has been dropped onto the importer window, or selected from the location where it is saved, a short message will appear in Makersite stating that it will take a few moments for the file to import and that you will receive a notification via the email you logged into Makersite with, when the import is complete.

Step 4

Check your registered email address for the notification. It will contain [Makersite] followed by the name of the file you imported as the subject line.

The email will also state whether or not there were any errors in the RSL file e.g. if CAS numbers in the list were incorrect.

Another method of checking the status of the import is to navigate to the 'Jobs' page in Makersite. For more information on how to do this, please see the Different Statuses in Jobs article on the Makersite FAQ.

Once the upload is complete the contents of the list can be checked in Makersite using Data Explorer.

Step 5

To access Data Explorer in Makersite, click on the profile drop-down in the top right corner of the home Dashboard.

This will open a list of folders.

Click on 'Regulatory Lists' to expand the folder.

You will then find a sub folder with the same name as the RSL you imported in this list, clicking on the folder will expand it and show the substances that were imported.

The RSL import is now complete, all products (existing and newly imported) are automatically screened for noncompliance.
