Check mapping completeness of imported datasets in Makersite

Introduction

A previously imported file can be checked for mapping completeness in Makersite via the 'Compose' screen. This may be useful if you have noticed gaps in your results or there are some errors in your model, checking the imported datasets and their mapping within Makersite is good practice to ensure the data Makersite is using is complete.

There may also be times when datasets change and you need to change or update something e.g. if you have created a new, more organisation specific model of a material in Makersite since your import.

There are also two tools in Makersite that can also be used to check for mapping completeness, for more information please see the How to QA Imported Data article on the Makersite FAQ pages.

The 'Show All Data' toggle can also be used to find gaps in a products mapping. Please see the Show All Data Toggle article on the Makersite FAQ pages.

Overview

In this example we will open the Ball Pen Product Group, navigate to the compose page and find 'Resume Import'. This will open the mapping page that shows up anytime you import a file into Makersite. From here we can edit or check any of the datasets for any issues.

Step 1

Use the Search Bar on the Makersite Dashboard to find the Ball Pen Product Group. If the Ball Pen BOM has not been imported yet, please see the Import a BOM article on the Makersite FAQ pages.

Select the 'Ball Pen' Product Group from the list.

Step 2

Once the Ball Pen Product Group has loaded, find 'Compose' at the top centre of the page and select it.

Step 3

Find 'Resume Import' on the Compose page and select it, this will open the import mapping page.

A 'Product Category' pop-up will be shown, this can be dismissed for this example.

Step 4

The import mapping page will only show unmapped datasets by default, this can be toggled by clicking on the 'Show only non matched items' slider located on the left of the page, above the dataset names.

Any of the datasets can now be manually edited or added to from this page.

If you need to make a change, but want to retain the original dataset, the Product Group should be Copied first.

For more information on Copying datasets, please see the Sharing, Copying and Forking Data section on the Makersite FAQ pages.
