Introduction

A Product Alternative Report can be produced for any Product or Product Group in Makersite, the report shows all of the Alternatives that are mapped to each imported dataset.

For more information on Alternative mapping, please see the Alternative vs. Composition Dataset Mapping article on the Makersite FAQ pages.

This can be useful for gaining a quick overview of your imported data and how it relates to Makersite datasets.

Overview

Open, setup and review a Product Alternatives Report.

Step 1

Navigate to the 'Pivot Manager' in the 'Business' section of the 'Makersite apps' on the Makersite Dashboard.

Then scroll down and select 'Product Alternatives Report' from the list.

Step 2

Type the name of the Product Group you would like to base the report on in the 'Product' field in the Information and Tools panel to the right of the page.

For this example we will use the 'Ball Pen' Product Group.

Save Report: When ticked, will not create the report on the Makersite page, instead an email will be sent to the address associated with the active Makersite account being used to indicate when the report is ready for use.

Step 3

Once the Product Group is set, and any options that are required are ticked, you can then click on the blue 'Create' button in the bottom right corner of the Information and Tools panel.

If 'Save Report' is not ticked, the report will load on the page.

The 'Alternatives' column will list any alternatively mapped datasets beneath each imported dataset name. For example the imported dataset 'Vinyl Chloride' has four Makersite datasets mapped to it, Polyvinylchloride (bulk polymerised), Polyvinylchloride (emulsion polymerised), Polyvinylchloride (suspension polymerised), and Vinyl Chloride. The source of each dataset is shown to the right in the 'Source' column.

The green shaded row, indicates that the dataset is currently set to be the default mapping for the imported dataset, meaning it will be used in any calculations of results using the Makersite apps.

Clicking on the name of any Alternative will open a pop-up where you can...

With the report created the whole grid view can be exported by right clicking and selecting 'Export to...' and choosing which format to export to from the list.
