Site Impact Report Purpose

A Site Impact Report will show an overview of the environmental impacts of supply chain Sites. Sites represent manufacturing facilities, assembly facilities or any other facility where an industrial process is carried out, related to your product in Makersite.

The overview will allow you to compare Sites across the entire supply chain and identify any Sites that have a disproportionately high impact, or where improvements could be made. Where there are multiple Sites with the same or similar processes, a comparison can be made to determine the best location from an environmental perspective.

The report is based on data from a Transaction Import.

Running Site Impact Report

  1. From the home page, go to Makersite Apps > Business > Pivot Manager > Site Impact Report.

  2. Set the Site or Company to be analyzed in the right-hand menu.

  3. Select the Impact to analyze. Please type the impact name into the field and the search bar will pick it up.

You can select any impact defined by the EF 3.0 categories.

  4. Set the Start date and End date to define the timeline scope of your report.

  5. Select the type of transactions (orders or purchases) to be analyzed for impact.

Orders represent any material or products shipped OUT of a facility, for example finished products, and Purchases represent any material or products shipped INTO a facility, for example raw materials or off the shelf contracted components.

  6. Click Create. The report should be available after a short while. If you selected Run in the background and save, you will get an e-mail with a link to your report once it's ready - this is recommended for large data sets (for example a company with hundreds or thousands of suppliers).

The report is set out in Makersite's' Grid view, where all of the headings relevant to the report are listed horizontally. Use the Scroll bar at the bottom of the page to scroll across & view all of the headings & data.

Report Columns

Headings for the Site Impact Report for Purchases include the following:

Note: The following list refers to the columns shown when selecting 'Purchases' when setting the report up, if 'Orders' is selected, only Order, Site Name, Final Impact, Quantity, Unit, & Scope 3 Category will be shown.

Order

This is the order the report lists the items in, it is not related to the import data order.

Site Name

The name of the Site where the product is bought into for manufacture or processing.

SKU Name

Unique Name given to the component or assembly in the transaction import.

Quantity

Total number of items purchased or ordered during the time frame selected when creating the report.

Price

Cost of each component (This has no unit in the impact report, the unit is based on the imported data, i.e. if the transaction data has been imported in $, this figure will match that.)

Defra Impact

A Defra impact is a CO2 impact calculated from the cost of a component (spend-based impact), the units are kg/CO2/eq. Used only when no other impact is available.

GWP Impact (AI)

Makersite Calculated Global Warming Potential (GWP) Impact, the units are kg/CO2/eq. Used when neither BOM impact nor local impact are available.

No. of Transactions

Number of times the component is purchased or ordered during time frame selected when creating the report.

Scope 3 Category

Scope 3 emissions are all indirect emissions that occur in the value chain, this column shows which category each Product Group is part of.

Impact (Local)

Impact calculated by Makersite based on geography of the site and geography of the Process which outputs the SKU's parent Product Group. Used when BOM impact is not available.

Impact (BOM)

If there is a BOM available for the imported data, this is the impact calculated from the BOM, which always takes top priority and is considered the most accurate. this will supersede other impacts (although they are still shown for reference), the units are kg/CO2/eq.

Final Impact

This field shows the most accurate impact available based on a simple hierarchy (highest to lowest priority) : Impact (BOM) > Impact (Local) > GWP Impact AI > Defra Impact.

Unit

Unit of the product group, set during import.

Unit Weight

Weight in kg of each component or assembly in kg.

Spend Category

This is a custom field that can be added to better organise a large group of components or assemblies, it is set in the import file.

Material Group

This is a custom field that can be added to better organise a large group of components or assemblies, it is set in the import file.

Supplier Site

The Site where the component originates, before being transported to the Makersite user's Site.

Geography

The geographical location code of the Suppliers Site.

Inputs?

Indicates how many inputs there are linked to it in the Makersite Process, this is where the AI impact calculation comes from.

AI Status

This shows whether or not an AI prediction as been made, it will show either 'Predicted' if an AI calculation has been made or 'Ignored' if Makersite was unable to make a Calculation. If there is no AI prediction, there may still be an 'Impact (BOM)' calculation, if the data is available.

Filtering Report Data

Using the Pivot functionality in the Grid view to analyse the report.

First click on the 'Columns' button, to the right of the Grid view. The button will be in a vertical orientation when hidden.

This will open the Pivot functionality menu, where the parameters can be set or adjusted.

Once the menu is open, at the top there is a toggle for 'Pivot Mode', turning this on will activate the Pivot & show the results in the Grid window to the left, once the sections have been set.

e.g. If you would like to easily visualise which supplier in a report has the highest environmental impact, the reference data type would be set to 'Supplier Site' in 'Row Groups', then in the 'Values' column any of the Impact columns can be added, 'Final Impact', 'GWP Impact (AI), 'Impact BOM', or 'Defra Impact'.

Note: Until the Pivot sections have been set i.e. one or more of the column names have been dragged into the sections below, the results screen will be blank.

Pivot Mode Sections

Columns List

This is where all the available columns are shown, any of these can be shown or hidden by selecting or deselecting the tick box next to each column name. Any of the column headings can be dragged down to the Pivot sections below.

Row Groups

Drag any of the columns from the list into this section to set the data type the pivot summary values will be grouped by.

Values

Drag any of the columns from the list into this section to set the data type that you want to investigate, based on the above group.

Column Labels

Drag any of the columns from the list into this section to set the data type to aggregate the data in the table across the columns e.g. If you're interested in seeing the data grouped by year, for forecasting, then drag the 'Year' column into this section.
