How to create and use Product Content Reports

Introduction

A Product Content Report will generate a list of each Product Category associated with the parts or materials within the selected Product Group. A Product Category is a United Nations Standard Product and Services Code (UNSPSC) number that a part or material is categorized under. These categorizations are used to create Product Category Rules (PCR) in Makersite, for LCA and MCDA.

For more information on creating PCR's and MCDA, please see the How to Guides and Use Cases section on the Makersite FAQ pages.

Overview

Open, setup and review a Product Content Report.

Step 1

Navigate to the 'Pivot Manager' in the 'Business' section of the 'Makersite apps' on the Makersite Dashboard.

Then scroll down and select 'Product Content Report' from the list.

Step 2

Type the name of the Product Group you would like to base the report on in the 'Product' field in the Information and Tools panel to the right of the page.

For this example we will use the 'Ball Pen' Product Group.

Save Report: When ticked, will not create the report on the Makersite page, instead an email will be sent to the address associated with the active Makersite account being used to indicate when the report is ready for use.

Step 3

Once the Product Group is set, and any options that are required are ticked, you can then click on the blue 'Create' button in the bottom right corner of the Information and Tools panel.

If 'Save Report' is not ticked, the report will load on the page.

The generated list will show each dataset within the Product Group, and to the right each level of UNSPSC (4 levels).

Not all items will have all 4 levels, this is OK, it only indicates that the categorization does not reach that level of specificity.

With the report created the whole grid view can be exported by right clicking and selecting 'Export to...' and choosing which format to export to from the list.

For more information please see the Pivot Functionality article on the Makersite FAQ pages.

Scaled / Unscaled Results

To better find errors in imported data, there is a feature in the Product Content Report that will show Unscaled results for the masses of components.

The function of this feature is to catch any duplicate masses that have been imported into Makersite. The default results are Scaled in the report, this means that if a component has been duplicated, the report will show the fraction of the correct mass of the component i.e. if there are two duplicates the mass for each duplicate will be half of the individual component mass.
