During the import process of a BOM (Import a BOM) each component or material can be either Alternative or Composition Mapped. If an imported dataset has been Alternative Mapped, there can be multiple Makersite datasets that it can be Mapped to. If there are multiple Alternatives, a Default can be selected, this will instruct the Product Model to use this dataset over the others, & use this Default in place of the imported BOM leaf.

Setting a Default Alternative can be done either during the import process (Method 1), or it can also be set or changed after a BOM has been imported, via the 'Resume Import' option on the 'Compose' page in a Product Group (Method 2).

A third method is also available, by navigating to the 'Alternatives' tab on the 'Compose' page in a Product Group. This tab will show a list of any Alternatives that are Mapped to the Product Group, & each row is editable by selecting the pencil icon to the left of the datasets name. The Default option can then be set or unset in the pop up window.

During the import process, after a file has been uploaded, the Mapping page will be shown. If no items are shown in the list, toggle the 'Show only non matched items' option in the top left corner of the list, this will show all of the imported items.

To the right of each row in the list, there will be a blue 'Default' tag shown by each Alternative Mapped item, this tag can be toggled from 'Default' to 'Not Default' by clicking on it.

If there are a number of alternatives assigned to an imported dataset, ensure only one of the mapped datasets is marked as 'Default', the rest should be toggled to 'Not Default'.

After a BOM has been imported, from the Makersite Homepage, use the search bar at the top of the page to search for the Product Group that you would like to set the Default Alternatives for & select it from the list.

Then select the 'Compose' option at the top of the page, once this has loaded, select 'Resume Import' in the toolbar.

Once the import Mapping page has loaded, the method for setting or unsetting Default Alternatives is as per Method 1 above.

From the Makersite Homepage, use the search bar at the top of the page to search for the Product Group that you would like to set the Default Alternatives for & select it from the list.

Then select the 'Compose' option at the top of the page, once this has loaded, navigate to the 'Alternatives' tab.

This will show a list of all the alternative Mapped datasets for the Product Group, each row can then be edited by selecting the pencil icon to the left of the dataset name.

The Default option can then be set or unset in the pop up window.
