Introduction

An Information Request can be used to send a questionnaire to another Makersite user, who can then add data to the request. This can be used to further enrich your product data on Makersite or fill gaps where no data is available in the included databases.

Overview

Information Requests can be viewed by navigating to the 'Information Request' app in 'Additional Makersite Tools', from the Makersite Dashboard.

The Information Request page will show all the incoming & outgoing requests to & from your User.

Any of the requests can be opened & edited or reviewed by clicking on either the 'Requested From' or 'Requested with' names, or the 'Part' name highlighted in blue.

Step 1

The Information Request app is located in the 'Additional Makersite tools' on the Makersite Dashboard.

Once you have selected the app from the list, an overview page will open, this is where any existing requests will be shown.

Requests received from other users will be listed under 'Incoming Requests' & requests that have been sent from the current user profile will be listed under 'Outgoing Requests'.

The 'Status' column to the right will show which requests are open or closed.

Step 2

To reply to a request click on any of the blue highlighted names, this will open the corresponding request.

A popup window will open, with options to either follow a tutorial or navigate straight to the request dashboard.

If the user requesting the information added a message to the request, this will also be shown here.

Click on 'Skip tutorial and view dashboard'.

Step 3

Once the Information Request dashboard is open, to add data to the request, select any of the 'Substance Information' categories at the bottom of the page:

Add Substance

Add Part

Add Material

Add Product

Import BOM

Step 4

After adding any relevant data to the request, click on the 'Submit' button in the toolbar above the request page.

The status of the request will then be updated to 'Submitted' on the Information Request overview page.
