Product Recommendations Report Purpose
The Product Recommendations Report produces a list of possible alternatives for the Processes mapped to products or components in a Product Group in Makersite. The report can be run for either Material Cost, or Climate Change.
The results will show a potential % saving for each dataset in a Product Group, based on the predicted alternative Process.
Overview
Use the Pivot Manager to open a Product Recommendations Report,
Set the Product Group that the report will be based upon, the report type (either Material Cost, or Climate Change), & how many recommendations are required for each Process.
The report can then be created, & the Pivot Mode used to arrange the data.
Running Product Recommendations Report
From the home page, go to Makersite Apps > Business > Pivot Manager > Product Recommendations Report.
Set the Product to be analyzed in the right-hand menu.
Select the Optimization Key to analyze your product with. Makersite can optimize your product's cost or climate change impact.
Select No. of Recommendations. If you select 1, Makersite will suggest the best alternative it can find. If you select more/all, you will get more alternatives in the report.
Select the appropriate additional report options, as explained below.
Click Create. The report should be available after a short while. If you selected Run in the background and save, you will get an e-mail with a link to your report once it's ready.
Option | Description |
Full Model | When left blank, the report only considers the datasets directly in the imported BOM. When selected, the report will extend the assessment to additional datasets associated with attached IPC files and BOM's. |
Run in the background and save | Send the report to the queue instead of running it immediately on-page. You will get an e-mail with a link to your report when ready. |
Analyze your Report
Once the input fields have been set, and any options that are required are ticked, you can then click on the blue 'Create' button in the bottom right corner of the Information and Tools panel.

Apply Recommendation | This action will create a new Pin, create a version of the product from the Replacement Process, and replace the previous product in the supply chain. |
Est. Savings (%) | Percentage saving predicated by Makersite, based on the replacement Process.. |
Product Name | Name of the Product Group in Makersite. |
Replacement Process | Name of the Process Makersite has suggested to replace the original Process with. |
Tier | This is the BOM tier the Product Group belongs to, based on the imported BOM hierarchy. |
Route | This shows an outline of the BOM hierarchy. |
What's Next?
Analyze the suggested improvements and double-check that the replacement processes make sense for your product. Apply the recommendations where possible.
