About Compliance Reports

Regulators all over the world create Restricted Substance Lists (RSLs) related to harmful chemical ingredients and demand that manufacturers comply with such lists when making products. Examples of such lists are European REACH or RoHS.

Makersite maps the substances used in your product against such lists. With this mapping in place, you can prepare the Compliance Status Overview Report and Compliance Status Report, described in this article. These reports differ in scope - the Overview report can be run against

Prerequisites

Run Compliance Status Overview Report

Compliance Status Overview Report is a bulk report which checks all products imported into your system (either via BOM or IPC) against one or more RSLs.

  1. Go to Makersite Apps > Business > Pivot Manager. A list of available reports opens.

  2. Select Compliance Status Overview Report.

  3. On the right-side panel, under Select Folder, select the source of product data for Makersite to check. You can select either All BOM imports or All IPCs. Makersite will check compliance of all available sources from the selected category against selected RSLs.

  4. From Restricted Substance Lists, select one or more RSLs to be covered in the report.

  5. Optionally, select Run in background and save. This option starts a job in the background and should be used when you expect a huge amount of data to be processed.

  6. Select Create. This triggers the report job. Wait for the report to appear on the page or go to Your Profile > Jobs to check the status.

  7. Check your report. The columns are explained in the table below. Please note that if you selected multiple RSLs, data for subsequent RSLs is displayed vertically.

Troubleshooting

Product is non-compliant even though all sub-components are compliant

You might witness something similar in your system as shown below. Note that the higher-level parts are not compliant even though all their sub-components are:

The reason is that Makersite does not show the SKUs for parts with assigned MPN numbers. At the same time, SKUs may still be assigned to these items in some cases (for example from cost data enrichment process). These SKUs may not have any substance information at all, which causes Makersite to mark them as non-compliant. Therefore, the parent product is also non-compliant.

To mitigate this problem, please check the non-compliant product for SKUs coming from data enrichment. If you find any, open them, go to Description > Product Information, and set Check Compliance to No.
