About LC Models

Makersite allows you to run Life Cycle Assessments based on actual data on how your product is made, rather than just a spend-based approach where you take the price of purchased goods and multiply it by a CO2 factor. However, in order to do that, Makersite needs a data foundation, which is provided by the Life Cycle Model (LC model), based on Product Category Rules assigned to Products in your system. LC models are necessary for Makersite to generate environmental impact reports.

Once you have the LC Model calculated on your product, Makersite can calculate various environmental reports, for example the PEF score, or produce an EPD declaration.

Prerequisites

  • Your products must be imported to Makersite. See BOM import or IPC import for more information.

  • Product Categories must be assigned to your products.

  • Product Category Rules must be set up on the Product Categories assigned to your products.

Generate LCA Model

  1. Open the product for which you want to produce environmental declarations.

  2. In the right-hand menu, go to Tools & Suggestions, and select Generate/Recalculate LC Models. This option is only available on products with assigned PCRs.
