Import Scope 3 Data

Introduction

Scope 3 data is split into a number of sub categories, each category that requires imported data has an import tool in Makersite.

Data can be imported from IMS or SAP database exports, or imported manually using the file format outlined below.

Scope 3 Importers

File Formats

Category 1 imports follow the Transaction Import format.

Categories 3 & 5 use a specific format, outlined below.

  1. Title of File

    This should be a unique identifier for the import file, using dates or revision numbers is a good idea.

  2. Name of Dataset

    Enter the names of the datasets related to the type of import;

    For Cat 3 Fuel & Energy, this will be the

    For Cat 5 Waste in Operation, this will be

  3. Measure

    The unit of the dataset e.g MWh, kg etc.

  4. Id

    Country ID for the dataset used e.g. if electricity from France is the dataset, then the ID will be

  5. Sum

    Sum of the columns to the left of the sum column

  6. Amount

    Amount of the dataset used, in the 'Measure' unit, by each Site

  7. Site details

    Site Name, Site ID, Site Country & Timespan of data in column

When imported, Makersite will create a Transaction data object for each entry in each of the columns imported in the file i.e. for each 'amount'.

Overview

To initiate an import, either:

  • Choose ‘Additional Makersite Tools’, and then choose ‘Importer’ from the pop-up window.

  • Or alternatively, under ‘Favorite apps’, choose ‘Importer’ from the list shown on the Makersite Dashboard.

You then choose one of the Scope 3 importers from the list within the ‘Import your Data’ pop-up.

Your import file can then be, dragged and dropped directly onto the Makersite page or click the ‘Upload File’ button at the top left of the page, to open the upload dialog where you can then choose the file to upload.

Step 1

Click on the 'Importer' icon under 'Favorite apps' on the Makersite Dashboard.

Alternatively, click on 'Additional Makersite tools', under 'Makersite apps' at the top of the Dashboard page, then select 'Importer' from the pop-up.

This will then open the 'Import your data' pop-up.

Step 2

Click on 'Bill of Materials' in the 'Import your data' pop-up.

This will take you to the upload page.

Step 3

You can now drag and drop your import file directly onto the upload window.

Alternatively, click on 'Upload File' in the top left corner of the page and select the file from the location where it is saved.

Step 4

Once the file has completed uploading, the data can then be used to create Forecasting models.
