It is not possible to add two products with the same product ID, each product Id should be unique. When trying to upload a product with already available product ID via excel upload, the system does not let you save either as each ID should be unique.

It is possible to create one product and link it to multiple factories or manufacturing locations.

You can then create multiple PCFs for the same product, each PCF related to a specific location. Or you can create multiple products and allocate them to different sites.

In this scenario, you would manually input the PCF data as secondary data and specify that the source is from your suppliers. However, please note that this data would not be in a PCF format, as that is only applicable when suppliers directly share the data with you. Here is a guide on how to add secondary data.

To address this, we suggest the following options:

1. You can invite your suppliers to Mattermaps, enabling them to enter the data in the Mattermaps PCF form and subsequently share it with you.

2. You can add the data as Secondary Data and refer to the documents received from your suppliers. However, please bear in mind that you will not be able to attach any PDF documents.

In such cases, we highly encourage you to leverage the full functionality of Mattermaps by inviting your suppliers to utilize the tool. We are more than willing to assist you in onboarding them, especially if they already possess the necessary data.

If you also have data from your suppliers and used that already to create your PCF, then you can directly create your PCF and add the data manually, but then the meta data would need to be aggregated from anything you received from your suppliers for your upstream emissions as well as your own emissions data.

You can say "undefined". If secondary data was used to calculate the Carbon Footprint, then it MUST include the property secondaryEmissionFactorSources. Since 100% is just a theoretical number, we set this attribute mandatory directly. You can state “undefined”.

The “reference period end” starts when you started collecting activity data and it ends when you finalize the activity data collection. If they declare a future date, that would mean that they predicted data for the future. This is not compliant to any standards. You can only measure what happened in the past.

In order for your supplier to proactively share a PCF with you, a connection first needs to be established, meaning that you need to send them an invitation via Mattermaps and send out at least 1 PCF request. Once they respond to you, the connection is made in the system, and they can proactively share future PCFs. If you have not invited them or sent a PCF request, they are not able to proactively share a PCF.

The invitation link is valid for 30 days. Please note it is a unique link and it cannot be forwarded, meaning the supplier contact who receives the invitation cannot forward it to another colleague. They would need to register and invite the other colleague.

At the moment, it is not possible to download a list of Product, Component or Verification Tasks. This will be introduced in future releases.

In order to start adding your components, you first need to add your Component Identifier Type in your configure settings, then you can start adding your components.

You can view the PCF form shared by your suppliers. Your LCA or sustainability experts can review and verify the data shared.

There are no associated costs with using the basic version of Mattermaps for your customers or your suppliers. If you wish to use APIs, that might require an extra cost.

You can 'undo' an accepted PCF within 5 calendar days. After that, you cannot 'undo' it and it will be saved.

At the moment, only a Company Admin can add or edit Product Families in Mattermaps. In this case, the product manager would need to reach out to the company admin and request the change or ask to create a new product family.

In order to use the free basic features of Mattermaps, both customers and suppliers need to use the Mattermaps platform. However, if you are using APIs, then you can use other platforms.

For Mattermaps we offer the productive environment: where companies can add and exchange real PCF data with suppliers. You already have an account on Productive and you are the company admin. You can simply log in, this link, with your company email, password and the multifactor authentication or the recovery code.

Email notifications are dependent on the user role. You will receive email notifications when:

Procurement Manager:

A supplier responds to a PCF request.

You are assigned to a task.

Product Manager:

A customer requests a PCF.

You are assigned to a task.

Mattermaps takes a weighted average approach. The system will take the values of the CO2 emissions and the percentage share of each supplier, thus providing the average emissions per component.

Mattermaps is limited to the units that are allowed by WBCSD Pathfinder. These units include m² and m³, but not m. This is mainly due to reasons of comparability of PCFs from different suppliers. Ideally, the user always declares also the mass per declared unit, which is not mandatory but should be to avoid any misunderstanding. Users can select pieces as declared unit and provides mass per declared unit.

PCF data entered in Mattermaps can only be certified by accredited certified bodies. Mattermaps recognizes accreditation by official institutions worldwide, such as DAKKS in Germany, CNAS in China or others listed by international networks, such as IAF (international accreditation forum). Currently only accredited verification bodies in the field of product carbon standards qualify as "certifiers".

In Mattermaps, a peer review is currently not recognized as equivalent to a PCF verification done by an accredited verification body.

Here is a guide on how you can invite your certifiers to the platform.

The percentage share is a confidential piece of information. Therefore, it is not shared with your suppliers or customers, only the users within your company that have the “Procurement Manager” role can view this.

In addition, the percentage share is not a mandatory field, therefore you can add and link your components to your suppliers without adding it. The goal of the percentage share is for the system to calculate average emissions. By not adding the percentage, the system will not be able to calculate an avg emission value for that component and you will see a missing avg emissions value.

Customer do not have access to your created PCFs, they are not able to see your PCF history. They only see the PCF you decide to share with them in response to their request.

Emissions data in Mattermaps is intended to be added only for one product. Therefore, it is recommended to enter the emission values related to that particular product and not to the entire product line produced in the factory.

Once a PCF is created, it cannot be edited. You can export it to a new draft, and delete the previous version.

Follow this guide for more.

Yes, you can share the same PCF to multiple customers separately. It cannot be shared with multiple customers in bulk.

At the moment only the Mattermaps format is possible.

Procurement Managers can create the material category.

For the current Mattermaps version 1.15.0, product identifier types used for products cannot be deleted, unless existing products are updated or deleted.

In order to remove a product identifier type that is already linked to a product you can follow these steps:

Go to products and remove the product identifier.

Perform this action for all products which contain this product identifier.

Go back to Settings and delete the product identifier type.
